The University of Costa Rica is an institution of higher education and culture, constitutionally autonomous and democratic, made up of a community of professors, students, administrative officials, dedicated to teaching, research, social action, study, meditation, artistic creation and the dissemination of knowledge.
It is a flagship institution of humanist education, established in 1940 and declared in 2001 by the Legislative Assembly as a Meritorious Institution of Costa Rican Education and Culture.
The University of Costa Rica offers a wide range of degree programs to meet the demand for professionals in Costa Rican society and offers students’ academic, research and humanistic training in each of its different faculties.
